The Declaration of Independence was not a declaration of self centered, self reliance. It was a declaration from the unified voice of the colonies that they would no longer be oppressed and controlled by the tyrannical grip of Great Britain. It was a declaration of war. Whenever you make a declaration of independence from forces that have controlled you, recognize that you have made a declaration of war.
